Positive brainwash I mean…

Awesome trip with much insight enough to motivate me through my year and 10 months

There were kindergarten kids there to learn the importance of our nation’s security.
Imagine their wide-eyed stares at our camouflage-green… just momentus
“Yes, we are your Justice League…”

I asked if there were internships in UN.
There were!
With my military experience
and if I studied Political Science [if I do well in 'A's]
I’ll be 6 months away from home
learning Urdu or Afrikaans
Mingling with the Pashtuns
Wearing a turban in the desert
Doing what I always dreamed of
Being part of the real
the only
non-imaginary
Justice League
6 March, The Long Awaited
So awful the struggle to keep my mind off it
The sleepless nights of reminiscence
The constant dreams
Thanks for keeping my mind off things
Albeit the 180 dollar bill

And cats are adorable

Musings: Memoirs of the Silent Tanker

OK OK, I can no longer hide in the silent-tanker persona. My commanders know who I am already HAHAHAHA my biggest worry is them reserving me for platoon I-C during field camp KNN!

Passed my techni-dling han-cal (I’m still trying to keep to the security clearance so try to decipher if I jumbled my words). Superiors were extra strict with me (expecting something i guess) just like during SOC (aiyah, Haziq confirm can do one. lols. I did except low wall knn!).

Past week was hell so I did lots of silly things in camp to lighten the atmosphere. The result was line writing. Here’s a measure of the clown-factor for the past few days:

1.I will not take the lift without the permission of my commanders
2. I will not say AAH… AAH… AAH… so many times to remind my friends that they’re doing something wrong
3. I will also not say AAH AAH AAH @## %&! to make those saying AAH a lot of times stop
4. I will not play soccer in my bunk
5. I will not play scissors-papers-stone to decide who becomes the meal I-C
6. I will not say “Khairul! Wrong Leg CHange!” when he’s doing warm ups. That is reserved for marching only.
7. I will not imitate the CSM when I give commands. Saying with gusto is not an excuse.
8. CSM is not my Idol

PC says got chance to go Intel but must pass the security clearance (which is another way of saying racism – says yellow platoon mate)
Honestly, we brownies will not hesitate to defend and even kill other brownies if they were threatening the safety of our birthplace, our home, our motherland.

WE ARE NOT BROWN, YELLOW, DARK BROWN, WHITE, PURPLE or BLUE! WE ARE RED AND WHITE AND STARS AND CRESCENT MOON!

“Have you seen the early birds that fly in the break of dawn to search for food? They fly from their nests always hungry and unsure yet they always fly home with a full stomach. Have faith in what you do and do it good.. and you’ll achieve what you go out to achieve”

Musings: What Will You Defend?

For those of you who think we Singaporeans aren’t in any real danger – think again. Everyday Singapore receives internal and external threats that could affect our lives and if the government were to let us citizens in on each and every one of them there would be mass hysteria. Face it; we all take what peaceful days we have in Singapore for granted. For the common people, we can’t live our lives if we had to continually worry about Singapore’s defense (which is one of the reasons why the press is controlled by the government). Just tomorrow, just for tomorrow, we must accept that even with the best men, women and machine at the 5 front lines of defense, we are still a small and vulnerable nation. The recent tragic loss of a Singaporean to a terrorist attack in India is a stern reminder for all of us.

Commemorating Total Defence day is not just about eating salted tapioca, reading bomb-shelter brochures and remembering how Singapore fell to an anciently-imperialist-expansionist Japan more than 60 years ago. It is about realising the roles we play as citizens. The smallest effort in the macro-scale, like being a good employee or student or even maintaining good relations with your neighbour, can contribute to our nation’s defence. It is a wonder how simple acts which are seemingly unrelated would be a great help if Singapore was ever attacked. That is the message behind the red palm-shaped, arrow-fingered logo that we see on ClearChannel notice boards at bus stops.

Have a sense of ownership. Your favourite hangouts, your street-soccer courts, that Starbucks outlet just around the corner, your school, your workplace, your colleagues, peers, friends, neighbours, relatives and families are yours and yours to claim. Don’t let anything take them away.

So think and ponder: What Will You Defend?

Take out your ‘Avy’ shades
and bask in the brilliant warmth of the sun
I’ll take you to the furthest corners
where there’s colours and lots of fun
that’s what he said..
but look at what he’s done..

I’ll never be afraid
when you’re around
and I’ll always miss you
when you’re gone
And that’s what she said
But look at what he’s done

Just keep in mind
what he’s capable of
just look at the signs
that tell to let off
and that’s  what they said
but look at what he’s done

And the sun will always be there for the flowers
even if the cloud doth cover it
soon enough he’ll peek from behind
and bask the earth with the light that comes from it
but the flowers always say it’s the bees that deserve credit
but all the bees do is just violate

I’ve found sanctuary in Zombie-cleansing. Somehow the undead-genocide helps to release all the pent up fatigue and frustration over the weekdays. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my PSP back home so there goes the opportunity of a-wallop-ing as a boxer in Fight Night: Round 3. The suspense is killing me (softly with this song) and I’ve begun to dream about failing my General Paper which pretty much starts my early mornings off badly. Now where’s that zombieee… It’s late at night and the room is dark and I have no one to talk to but god (and in some cases myself). I got a well-deserved status tag and rested myself physically though. They say you don’t have to worry if you tried your best… UP YOURS! You always have to think of a back-up plan and right now I’m formulating one.. Heard the school is as kental as ever, good luck sis.
