My schedule will always clash
I will want to do so many things that I will regret not doing in camp yet I have so much else to do and it didn’t help that I had guard duty last friday and only booked out of the dreaded island yesterday morning.

I also just discovered social-overlap.
You know when you have different faces? A face for family, a face for friends….
It’s almost impossible to have a family member among friends at the peer level if I have the politically-correct face-method in use.

Overlap
what a confusing world this is

Your Phone is Dead. Please Recharge, call can’t get through. I bought a Cat, go look at it.

there is a house in New Orleans
they call The Rising Sun….

I’m still suffering from fatigue and I can’t sleep at night either
And from time to time, I get all nauseous, or seasick…

Me and my mates hung a few hours ago
Still euphoric over the Scouser’s awakened form

I’m not the only one with insomnia

Still undecided… although I’m leaning ever so slightly over the fence I sit on

Why am I always the last to know?

Am I a ninja or am I not a ninja.. Christina! We’ve had rejection! We need a bucket, a mop…
and sixty shots of Tah-Keeeel-aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh

And so a night ends
without me shutting my weary eyes
and my mind bends
in that space time continuum
and never finds a place to settle
but that stairway to heaven

And so a month and two more ends
without me resting my weary soul
and my heart lends
itself to dark, grey clouds
on the horizon
where three more new moons
will peek across before
I leave the Island
love and hate

And so shall it end, then
with much gusto and pride
and chest-beating
or with a humble bow and the truth
and experience gaining

Or with a single fall
through a gap
on the mess of a biblical-inspired
ladder

I promised to try. Please pray.

Wipe that mucus.

It’s My Life by The Animals

House of the Rising Sun by The Animals

And we all ask where the pot of gold is… It’s at the end of The Animal’s Rainbow of Soul…

When songs are timeless

One of the many hits during the Vietnam War era, this song screams the hippie call of peace and love, or in today’s context,  Obama’s rally for change. Meaningful lyrics. Bob Dylan successfully and poetically criticized the behavioral-inertia apparent in humans that results in stubborn stupidity – and as he accurately puts in this work of his, we are still stubbornly stupid.

BOB DYLAN – BLOWING IN THE WIND

Lyrics:
How many roads must a man walk down
Before they call him a man
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand
How many times must the cannonballs fly
Before they are forever banned
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind
The answer is blowing in the wind

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it is washed to the sea
How many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free
How many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn’t see
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind
The answer is blowing in the wind

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky
How many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry
How many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind
The answer is blowing in the wind

Remember when this was played
as we lounged and stared blankly
into the fray

How we ran, how we ran…

And there are moments when we drift into that universe
into a colossal mess of churning emotions
where vibrant colours calm
the intestine shock of our inevitable destruction

Handled it calmly, reaped what I sowed.
T’was what I wanted, what I worked for.
Not too low to quell all hopes
neither high to put me on Cloud 9
just nice

At least now no one can convince me as to what I Have To Do
Now I can draw my own map
and walk my own path

And for the last time

Up Yours!

Not long after the launch of Quantum of Solace, yet another Daniel Craig starring film, Defiance, hit the silver-screens. Summarised, Jewish brothers in Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe escape into the Belorussian forests, joining Russian resistance fighters and worked together to build a village in order to protect themselves and about 1,000 Jewish non-combatants (Source: IMDb). With the espionage hero starring, the movie managed to draw an audience, earning nominations in the Oscars and the Golden Globe.

Despite its innocent war-genre facade, there are speculations that the movie was made in an attempt to squeeze some holocaust sympathy into the audience to calm the Palestine-supporters. According to BBC, Amnesty International has raised some concerns over the alleged demolitions of buildings. To quote from the British on-line website, “From the testimonies that we’ve gathered, lots of demolitions – buildings demolished either by bulldozers or explosives – were done after the area was under Israeli control,” said Yehuda Shaul, one of the group’s (Breaking the Silence) members. The destruction of civil properties must be justified on military grounds; any wanton demolition may be considered to be a war crime.

The shady method by which the Israeli command works pave ways for various accusations and speculations. This latest revelation inevitably raises doubts over the Jewish state’s mission and vision in their supposed anti-terrorist-skirmishes. A people plagued once by genocide surely must understand how precious and important civilian lives and properties are even during war.

And with so much speculation, our dear speculators speculated that a sudden change in focus to a long-time been-there-done-that “World War II” revival on silver-screen might speculatively be suspicious.

But I digress. We humans have a strong connection to history. History is after all our identity and  forms the basis of our society. While we may learn from past mistakes and innovate from past shortcomings, we have a tendency to “carry forward” the hatred and conflicts of past generations though irrelevant. It is this hate-carried-forward that gives to speculations and speculations to suspicions and suspicions to conflict.

Our lack of clarity in looking at our time-line of progress or, I daresay, selective perception, make even a movie, championing the values of freedom, the importance of tolerance, understanding and harmony, a possible political piece of propaganda, whichever way the speculations point to.

Then again, someone once said, Media IS Propaganda.
